Safer Internet Day Review
Yesterday’s safer internet day seems to have been a fantastic success.
The BBC launched their ‘Share, Take Care‘ campaign to coincide with the days events.  BBC Radio 1 kept pushing their online game which gets you to approve status updates against the clock.  They also give some sensible advice on protecting your digital footprint.  DJ Greg James even wrote and performed a parody song! The world service even got involved by simulcasting a section of the Safer Internet Day Marathon Radio Show hosted by @russellprue.
Twitter was alive with links and opinions, helping people young and old to be safer online. Â The term ‘Safer Internet Day’ was trending in the UK on twitter for a good few hours. Â Police forces were linking to advice, charities were holding Q&As and lesson plans were being shared by and for teachers on a global scale using the hashtags #SID and #SID2012.
It is however a real shame that a story broke where a teacher had been reprimanded after making inappropriate remarks on facebook on the same day.
Congratulations to all the organisations and individuals who got involved, shared resources, gave opinion and publicised such an important issue. Internet Safety is for life…

Nicely written. A lot of hard work by a lot of dedicated people
Thanks Alan. I regularly visit your site, nice to have you here!
Thank you for a lovely review, we thoroughly enjoyed the day, and were so pleased all the events went well. Exhausted after the marathon radio show! Just wanted to remind Teachers that if you have concerns about your Digital Footprint, and want to avoid Facebook embarrasments such as the story that broke yesterday, please remember we run a dedicated Helpline to support Professionals like you!
